Basically he tried to add up all the value that his wife provided using maximum numbers, without using true values, they use high end profession values instead of realistic values in the US.

Nannies without Early Childhood Education are going to suffer a bit on the value, and will make an average of $12.00 per hour. So the value with 40 hour work weeks is 24,960.

Here are typical job requirements for being a nanny

  • Transport children to and from school, play dates, and activities.
  • Ensure children’s health and safety and care for illnesses.
  • Work in a private home providing childcare, supervising children, keeping children entertained, and upholding family rules.
  • Prepare children’s meals, clean up after the children, do some of the family’s shopping, and perform light housekeeping.

Some of those other professions that he described seem to fit into the nanny's role. Well providing food for the child.

There are many professions that men are required to also do when they are not at work.

Security guard, during all off hours you are required to protect, and defend your wife and children at the cost of your own life. Without overtime and being available all non-work hours is $10.00 per hour

So all non-work hours 168-40 = 128 hours a week as a security guard, at all hours of day or night you are available. This is also a requirement when you are doing your other non-paid employment jobs.

Salary: 66,560 per year.

Garbage man. You are responsible for maintaining, and collecting your garbage cans, placing all garbage within them and transporting them to the street for pickup weekly.

Lets say one hour a week at $17.00 an hour. Only $882 a year in salary, but it all adds up.

Landscaping: Maintaining the lawn, garden, and hedges outside of the home. 1-3 hours a week, at $9.00 an hour. $1404 a year.

Auto Mechanic: Diagnose and preform routine maintenance on the vehicle. $15.00 per hour. Lets say 1 hour per week. $780 a year.

General Contractor: Always required to be modifying and upgrading different aspects of your domicile, overseeing work being completed in the home.

As you can see, you can keep going on and on, and assign a value to anything. Realistically the wife is not working 24 hours a day, seven days a week being a nanny, cook, and doing 4 hours of financials (unless you are a day trader or stock broker) a week means that you are doing a pretty bad job of it.

And regarding her as a chef, unless she is cooking cullinary masterpieces she would be most likely a short order cook, or prep line cook.

I hate articles like this because they artificially increase the value of the profession. Please find someone who will pay that amount and get a job from them because I could use the money.
