So I just watched the latest Law and Order SVU and I was actually impressed! The episode features a male rape victim of a woman. The male, like many victims, in not a "perfect victim" aka good witness etc. He's an excon from dealing a little pot in college. His parole officer is the perp.
It even goes into how he couldn't fight back because she had control of his life, he could be shot in "self defense" or sent back to jail. And who would believe him? All these questions were actually covered.
It also showed how terrible it is for male victims, with even SVU detectives not believing men can be raped, difficulties of convincing a jury, and eventually having to have a plea bargain.
I highly recommend watching it. It was emotional, but tackled an issue I know we all care about which is male rape. To have such a widely watched cable TV show address it is awesome and hopefully will bring more awareness to the general public that this can and does happen. And even a strong man can be raped.
please discuss opinions or anything else, but I wanted to share with this wonderful community. I know I don't comment often because I am a woman, and often feel this should be a safe place for men. But I had to post this.
