Custody=Money. Here we go again; when being granted full custody equates to financial security, posioning the minds of the children becomes a means justified by an end. When money and pride are involved, it isn't just the narcissistic parents who do this, it could be anyone.

In cases where a woman applies for full custody, there is so much on the line that parental alienation becomes systematic.

Humans are liars. We lie to ourselves, we ignore blatant signals,etc etc. Is the dad really not a fit parent? Or is it that the mom's future financial security in on the line. Seems pretty clear to me. But when it becomes necessary to PROVE he isn't fit to parent BECAUSE of purely financial reasons, well we have a big problem don't we?

I'm preaching to the choir, I realize that, but this is a massive issue that gets almost no press. Good post OP.

Yes. Absolutely you are correct. And the combination, and then the synergistic effect where the attention itself "empowers" them further and all of a sudden it escalates etc etc.

When my ex made false and spurious accusations of violence against me to gain control of our children and my house, she claimed that she "finally felt in control of her life", which I'm certain feels pretty good; never mind if SHE was actually the violent, unstable and emotionally immature one.

You raise a good point though; it's never just the one reason. It's a giant complicated neurosis filled knot of righteousness and malice and misinformation. Not to mention the influence of third party's; My ex's female boss played a large part in giving "permission" to my ex to involve the police. This boss, of course, only ever heard a distorted version of reality; so of course she thought she was "helping" by "saving" this poor innocent woman from an evil man.

I dig brother, I dig.

Know what I find amazing? How tenacious it is.

I haven't raised my hand in anger on another human being since I was 15, so this year I hit 30 years of total nonviolence in my life. I'm just some dude who goes to work every day like everyone else. I have no record, no history with the cops even of intervention, nothing. The worst I've ever done is get a speeding ticket.

But I've been separated for 15 years, now, and in the 15 years she's been telling people I abused my son, abandoned my son, telling them I stalk her on the Internet, telling my son that I'm a huge risk to kidnap him and that he should call the cops if I appear in his town or near his school, that while he lived with me I controlled his communications, etc. He's now 15 himself and suspects his Mom is full of it, so he asked to move in for a bit this past summer.

Of course, in the six months my child lived with me this summer, he saw that my life was totally different than the stories. He saw me with my nieces and nephews on the floor playing, saw me with pets and other animals, saw me with my new wife, saw me interact with people in stores, with my family, etc. and he saw with his own eyes that I wasn't the ogre I was being made out to be. He told me to my face that I was really good with people, several times.

But, he moves home and within 3-4 days out comes the "He abandoned you!" kind of comments from her, and now he won't talk to me again and she's making all the calls on his behalf.

Give those kids enough time buried in the bubble of that ideology, and they are well and truly trapped. Even direct visual evidence to the contrary can't shake it, sometimes.
