The simple fact is Jennifer Lawrence has not reached the very top of her field. Yet, that is who they compare her salary against, when making claims about gender biased salaries.

Let us examine the individuals with whom she is competing:

Bradley Cooper

Christian Bale

Jeremy Renner

Cooper and Bale foremost as leading men with great acting chops in a variety of roles in the top tier. The equivalent of Bale & Cooper would have been a female star such as Natalie Portman.

The female roles though, use far less bankable stars in Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams.

A more apt comparison on salaries would have been Renner vs. Lawrence.
