Since the development of English law way back in the twelve hundreds, the English speaking world has enjoyed a certain level of due process (ie) police investigations (more or less), the adversarial legal system, judge, jury, lawyers etc. This basic system of standards was developed by the English at a time when Continental Europe was developing the opposite system, where you would be presumed guilty unless you could prove otherwise. What happened? YWCA Canada claims that out of every 1000 sexual assaults only 6 are prosecuted and out of those there are only 3 convictions. They conclude that this means 997 assailants walk free. Assailants? What happened to the presumption of innocence and due process?
