I've been watching a ton of television sitcoms lately. I noticed a trend. Now, i see this type of thing in movies all of the time, but shows a re a bit different. here is why.
There will be an episode where the entire episode in the man making up to his wife for something he did that she didn't like. The entire episode the man is learning some lesson and trying to get his wife to forgive him for some little thing he did without really thinking much into it.
Then after this episode there will be a dozen other episodes where the woman will do exactly what the man did or something even a bit worse but along the same lines and the woman basically says, Suck it up., the audience laughs, and the whole thing is dismissed. This usually take about 60 seconds.
We spend 30 - 40 minutes watching how women are going on and on about why they are upset and how the man needs to not do it.. But when it happens to the man it is a joke all of a sudden and not worth time.
Why are shows like this?
And why are movies so quick to portray cruel things happening to men as being humorous?
I saw a movie recently where two males played a prank on two sorority girls. The sorority kidnapped the two men, stripped them naked, put socks over their penises, shackled them to the floor, and held a trial in front of the entire sorority. Then they branded them with a cattle brand with their sorority's letter on it, scarring them for life. Then they let them go without their clothes and we're all supposed to laugh as they walk across campus naked.
And I'll even see the media finally seem like they are going to portray a man as a victim. The man will go through something a woman usually does but then they turn it around to where the woman is still the victim.. The roles are reversed and the male is in this situation you normally find women in who are claimed to be the victim and the man still isn't the victim.
Why are movies and tv like this?
