I had a guy teasing me at work, no touching, but none the less it was affecting me. I basically just told him, "I don't appreciate you making fun of (it was my gf at the time) and no one here thinks it's funny. Next time you do I am going to take this up with our boss." He laughed and I said "no, I'm not kidding. " He stopped and no one thought less of me for it. In fact some people were impressed I took a stand.

Unlike school, people can be fired. So my advice is to tell him to stop because you don't think it's funny. Then threaten to inform your boss if he doesn't take you serious. You're coworkers, not friends.

The moral and professional answers are different. The moral answer is to go to him first and just tell him you don't like to be touched like that.

THEN escalate it to your boss/hr.

The professional answer is not to approach him, but to immediately go to boss/hr. The difference is that workplaces are generally VERY unconfrontational. They don't ever want to encourage employees to confront each other on things - ever. If you confront him and it goes sideways you might be creating new problems for yourself.

But if you don't confront him and do as your work probably wants, he is going to be pissed you just didn't come to him in the first place.

This is a call that only you can make.

When the day comes that you do go to boss or HR understand that because you are both males you are going to be walking a thin line. Stand strong that the touching is violating your personal space an the teasing is distracting you from work. DO NOT SUGGEST HOMOSEXUALITY. DO NOT GO THERE.

Even if you think it is innocent, 'I think he might be in the closet and he might have the wrong impression about me...' could backfire on you.
