Wow. She manages an entire article without attacking or blaming men once. Freaky. What the hell is up with that?

I wonder if it's just because Carlson said one thing so she had to say the opposite? Or perhaps psychologically she doesn't think this issue is a feminist issue so she didn't knee-jerk up all the usual slogans? maybe it would be the same if she was talking about the weather. For some reason she was completely out of sorts.

I guess my one small quibble is this statement:

"And to assume that boys of a certain age are more equipped than girls to consent to sex with an adult assumes that boys, by virtue of their gender, are smarter and more capable of handling themselves than girls are."

I think that capability is part of of it, but I don't think that "boys are smarter" is a common rationale.

I guess I kind of see his point, though. Was the relationship inappropriate, exploitative, and harmful? Yes. Should this behaviour be punished and protected against? Yes. Was this teacher in a position of authority and 100% in the wrong? Yes. Should individuals who are weak willed enough to have their "defenses worn down" be kept away from children and teenagers? Yes. Was it a rape? Ehhh.
