Equal right, equal fights.

Jess Phillips is the Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding by the way. Rather ironic.
[–]Roary93 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, and actively laughs at male victims. She's a horrible human being
[–]Roary93 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Jess Phillips is the epitome of a bitch. The fact she outright laughs at male sexual abuse or rape victims is proof enough

Looking at this comment section.. seems like we've been almost brigaded.. but not directly. Apparently we popped up on r/all and now people who don't agree with us are coming and gaslighting our beliefs saying we believe something we don't.. (for example saying they believe the same thing because new age Feminism is toxic) NO! It was ALWAYS toxic, the sentiment behind equality is of course great, but Feminism was NEVER about equality... Ever heard of actions speak louder than words? When have Feminists EVER done anything to help men who are suffering, suicidal, homeless.. etc? I've only heard of them defending women even when they're in the wrong.. stop gaslighting us, seriously
[–]TheMaeflowers 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sorry you feel like people are gaslighting you. I can see that you have had bad personal experiences but I can say that as a feminist I have done my personal part to help suffering and suicidal men, and their struggles with mental health issues with zero judgements or jumping down their throat about women's issues. Unfortunately part of the men's mental health issue is this gender skewed idea that men aren't allowed to show or feel emotion because its seen as feminine, or gay which is "bad". That stigma is certainly getting less and less, and men are feeling more comfortable addressing and speaking on their issues which is good and I really hope that women and men take that seriously. Again, as a whole I see why feminism may look like it doesnt actually care about equal rights but I think that may be the worst subset. I think women should have to be drafted, I think the fact that almost 90% of custody cases go in favor of the mother is fucked up and unfair to the fathers. Its not about equal rights if we only care about the ones that benefit us. I think things are leveling out a lot more than they used to be, (but women couldn't even open bank accounts on their own in the 60s, wild) so it may seem like feminism isn't needed but I think its okay to say I'm a feminist and I care about equality and femininity. Also just to clarify, fuck Amber Heard, she's and abusive piece of shit and I hope she gets treated the same as male abusers by the courts at some point.
[–]AreganeClark 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (39 children) | Copy Link
I'm a proud feminist, but fuck amber heard. Like. Being a feminist doesn't mean ignoring female abusers. Fuck that. Abuse is bad.
(I found this on /r/popular, if you are wondering how I got here)
[–]CelticHound27 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good to hear every abuser is scum
[–]garvcrazy 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Unfortunately, you're a red flag.
[–]SauronGamgee 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link
Then you're not a feminist, because feminism is about elevating women.
[–]masterdarthrevan 25 points26 points27 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Can we stop harassing our female allies please? Doing so just makes us look bad , in our own sub no less.
[–]Panzerkampfwagen212 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Amen to that brother
[–]Starmind0 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No one is "attacking our female allies"🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦 We're talking about feminists.
[+]AreganeClark -7 points-6 points-5 points 3 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link
Feminism is about equality, not one over the other. I'm also an egalitarian; feminism is just a subset of that.
And if it matters: I am a woman myself.
[–]luciferoid 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Too late the bad feminist is getting more publicity
[–]AreganeClark 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I'm aware. I'm aware that some view me calling myself a feminist as saying "I am the badness"
The funny part to me is I'm also a gamer. My girlfriend is also both a feminist and a gamer. People just like to shit on the worst version of each label 🤷♀️
[–]SauronGamgee 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
What does gaming have to do with anything?
[+]AreganeClark -6 points-5 points-4 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
There's a huge stereotype that all gamers are sexist, racist, queerphobic pigs.
[–]SauronGamgee 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
And who say that? Oh right, feminists.
[–]ExciteableCrew407 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Why are you guys shitting on someone who agrees with you? I found this on r/all and totally agree with the sentiment that new age “feminism” is toxic but feminism as it started is exactly what the girl described. I’m just curious
[–]vb2099 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Actually Feminism in the beginning was way more sexist. They wanted rights but also all the benefits that came with being a lady. For example the right to vote came with mandatory military service for men, Feminists wanted the right to vote but no military duties and were also a part of the white feather group (which shamed all men who didn't sign up for the military)
[–]vb2099 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is the first time I've heard about this stereotype. Is this really a stereotype?
[–]justseny -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To a certain group of people, yes.
[–]Coyotebruh 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
the bad feminist is literally named sauron lmao
[–]SauronGamgee 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
The textbook definition of feminism doesn't mean much in the real world. I judge an ideology based on the actions of it's advocates, not just the definition. For example, look at the people saying that Islam is the religion of peace. You can call it that however much you want to, but that doesn't change the fact that muslims are anti semetic and anti christian and decapitate people. It's the same thing about feminism, I judge feminism based on feminist's words and actions. When they say that all men are evil/rapists/abusers, or use a hashtag that says that all men should be murdered, that proves that it is not about equality. If I make an ideology with the definition that slavery should be banned, but then the people who follow my ideology have slaves themselves, the definition doesn't matter, because what matters is what people do.
[–]Gundham_cat 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
You do realise that bad people always get more publicity. 99% of Muslims are peaceful, but “muslim does absolutely nothing and just exists in peace” isn’t a very good headline. That’s the way media existed, I can’t tell you the last time I heard a report about a healthy relationship but I can name plenty of abusers.
[–]SauronGamgee 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I see your point, but the Quran literally states that christians and jews are "lesser" and should be killed. I have met a lot of muslims because of immigration into my country and I've talked to quite a lot of them. Most of them see non muslims as less than human and one of them said that "Islam will take over europe, since it's superior and holy. Christians and jews will be killed off" (i translated to english but the meaning was the same). I saw a muslim girl at a party assault a woman because she started making out with another woman at the party (homophobia) and every single muslim I have met or talked to (also online) have been heavily homophobic. A lot of them deny that ISIS even exists and think it's a media hoax. These are regular citizens, not just "1% radicals".
[–]Gundham_cat 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Quick question: what country do you live in? I just want to know because it could be that a lot of extremists live there. I have many muslim friends, and they all support me being gay.
[–]SauronGamgee 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I want to remain anonymous on reddit as much as possible but it's in scandinavia
[–]Gundham_cat 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Oh ok, I can’t really comment as I’ve never been there, but I live in the U.K. and I’ve never met an extremist. I guess it differs from place to place
[–]SauronGamgee 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah it might be different depending on where you live. People in the UK seem to be friendly generally (except for the knife attacks i suppose)
[–]AreganeClark -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ah. So you are the type to view a group based on the worst subsection of it.
I assume you also hate Christians, as that group as a whole has done some really fucked up shit and continues to do so (like neo-nazis)?
[–]Jakeybaby125 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. If it was, stick to womens issues. That's in the definition right? The advocation of women's rights? If it's that, stick with that and leave the MRM to deal with mens issues
[–]AreganeClark 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
"Stick to womens issues"
lol.
[–]Jakeybaby125 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Do you agree with that sentiment or not?
[–]AreganeClark 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't agree at all!
I care about the rights of everyone; I'm not only going to fight against injustice against women.
[–]Jakeybaby125 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Then don't be a feminist. Feminism needs to piss off when it comes to mens issues. They've only ever made them worse. Leave it to the MRM and stick to womens issues
[–]Gundham_cat -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Feminism is about making both sexes equal, fixing men’s issues and women’s issues. Toxic feminism or extremist feminism is about raising women above men
[–]SauronGamgee 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
How common is "real" feminism? How common is misandry?
[–]Gundham_cat -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Depends if you’re asking “how many feminists actually believe in real feminism” or “how much does the news showcase real feminists”
Good point
[–]Starmind0 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Then leave. We don't care how much you "loooooove men and support them" and "i have a father too!", the name is literally anti You.
[–]Seszer-06 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why is "hitting" written like that
