I moved to my wife's country at her own request last year after having a fairly crap time, like most I guess, during the pandemic. I love her country but work wise for me it's horrific. Made so many applications without getting there and the only kind of work I seem to have any chance with is in completely different fields and would require me to take an incredible drop in salary due to their being no minimum wage in place here.
We returned home earlier this year and I got a job immediately but my wife was so depressed that after a few months I agreed to try again in her country.
About 4 months later I returned home with her and the kids due to once again not finding work and within a week of being back I've found a job in the field I have experience in that also pays more than any other previous job I've had.
Of course she's furious and wants to return to her home country again as she hates it here. She wants me to agree to stay here for 4 years to save money to then return back to her country but I think this is completely unreasonable as I feel I'd be putting my life on hold again due to something coming down the line when I'm 45.
We have 2 kids 7f and 4m and they are my world and if I could I'd easily keep them but understand she'd likely win any court case.
I'm being told I don't want to keep the family together but I'm honestly at a point where it feels like any "compromise" for anyone would lead to me agreeing to something that I feel is a pipedream at best. I feel she's throwing in my face that she wants me as part of the kids lives to try and force me to agree with her plans.
Worse case being here I'd be able to provide for them better than living somewhere I can't find work.
It's not something I'm taking lightly either as due to working at home etc I've never really been away from kids at all for anything longer than a couple of days at a time.
