In Ontario Canada. No kids. I’m about to enter a legal battle with my ex who never worked. 13 years together, 4.5 married. She was diagnosed with MS a few years before we split. She’s going after indefinite support in the $3k/mo range. And I just started a new job, which could push that even higher.

How can I stomach sending my ex more than I pay for rent, and every ounce of disposable income I have every month for the rest of my/her life? Have any of you had to cope with this?

That and the crippling legal fees.. I don’t see how life will feel like anything other than constant slavery
