Florida uses a formula based on both incomes and overnights. The judge can deviate, but usually only with good cause and documentation. If you're both in agreement and filing uncontested, courts generally approve what you submit especially if the number lands near guideline range.

Not weird at all to formalize support even in a good relationship. It protects both of you if things change later, keeps everything clean for taxes and legal purposes, and removes ambiguity down the road.

Document everything you're agreeing to now. Keep it respectful and clear. That paper trail matters more than most guys realize early on.

CS is just a calculator like number. From the judge or system perspective the problem with kindly agreeing to other numbers is things can change, people can get wacky. CS however can be taken regardless and with forced withholdings etc. The best interest of the kids is always the primary consideration and with good cause because 18 years is a long time for people to change their minds and their feelings.

Anything is possible but keep that in mind as you consider alternatives.

why get divorced if you have a good relationship? Do you just not like being around you kid all the time?
