Caught my wife planning to have sex with another man (an ex roommate) I got in touch with his wife and together we put a stop to it. They had been messaging and calling each other for six weeks--- I had overhead a phone conversation that seemed suspicious and later figured out who he was and texted him to stop calling my wife. His wife saw the text and contacted me. The wife found messages he had not deleted, dirty pictures, and details for their plans to meet halfway and fuck in a hotel.
I feel betrayed, we have two young sons.
Now that I have confronted my wife she seems very sorry and does not want a divorce, we have even been talking about our issues.
Am I fool to try to fix this? I don't want to be a part time dad. I still love her but how can I trust her?
FYI - the guy apparently was not sorry and his wife tells me she is divorcing him despite having a one month old baby with him. What a piece of work.

Sorry you've joined the club nobody wants to be in!! With regard to any advice - take what you need and ignore the rest!!
You have a long road ahead either way, if you stay together or divorce - trauma / infidelity is the gift that never stops giving!! The best advice is to make sure you have enough information so you can always make an informed decision, you wife at the moment is full of regret at getting caught - she needs individual counselling to address the issues, was it a one time event as you sound uncertain!! Remember - she has shown you who she really is / capable of, the hard part is that you've got to believe it!!
Have a look on survivinginfidelity.com - lots of forums like here but also, the healing lounge, which is full of articles to read. Read them all and use the ones that suit your situation, maybe print them off and discuss with your wife, see her reaction - this is when you will know what she's made of as it's all about actions now, not just words!!

Get legal advice ASAP, know where you stand both now and in the future, can you do a 'post-nup' to protect yourself until she regains your trust / respect / love - now is the time to restructure your marriage before taking it forward again. Unless there are major changes, boundaries, open and honest conversations - it will not work out as resentment will just build until it blows up. Both get individual counselling then once a bit further forward have marriage counselling - do you both work, who's the major earner.
Lastly; Order two copies of 'Not Just Friends' by Shirley Glass - read together and discuss! This will open up discussions on relationships, gives perspective and insightful information. You also need to look after yourself, which is part of the recovery either way - lots of exercise and I mean lots as it will help you both physically and emotionally, lots of water and good food - keep away from junk and alcohol as you need to be fighting fit and on game! Keep posting, people are here to help - been there and got the T Shirt but only wish I'd had some decent advice as being stuck in limbo is a drain but at least I've a plan to get out!!

Hi - Keep hanging in there, as this one hell of rollercoaster!!
You don't need me to tell you this but you know there is more, a whole lot more - plus it's been going on for a long time. Probably like my wife, she saw no issues in doing what she was doing (only talking after all!!??) - can you see the messages / the content? I read a few that were archived by accident (check deleted and archived!!) and it wasn't sexual but that made no difference as the general conversations were disrespectful and reminiscing about the past!! It's the lies and deceit that get you in the end plus the lies, gaslighting and no remorse or even real regret - it's all about actions now not words!!
Appreciate it's not all about finances, especially at this point - take full legal advice so you can protect yourself and your sons, as it will no doubt turn into your worst nightmare for years to come - she's shown you, what she's capable of and the hard part is you've got to believe her!! Plan for the worst case scenario going forward, whether you stay or go! Don't forget, you don't have to make a decision now but put in place boundaries and requirements for a possible reconciliation, call the shots as you see fit as per the research you have done, or are doing. Be aware, if there is much resistance - you will then know how much she really values your marriage and I'd suggest you review the situation as you go but makes notes / have a diary etc - 'what gets documented gets done'.
Sounds like you have just started your detective mode, it's tiring and drains the life out of you - looking for other ways to communicate, as she will have used a few but whether you can find them is another question. Look at old phones etc, email accounts - do you go fully in with keyloggers, VAR's (voice activated recorders) and maybe a PI?? The desire to learn the truth, the new truth can be exhausting - maybe you should just ask for a detailed time line then a polygraph to confirm? Be aware there are a lot of parking lot confession just before you go in for it, maybe the threat of it is enough to gain some more information but you probably have enough - what do you need, that's the key!! Think about it long and hard, you'll never forget and getting the trust back is very difficult if not impossible but it can be done but she has to lead, do the research, self examination plus fix herself whilst you fix yourself too! Keep posting, is it helps!

Once a cheater, always a cheater. That's why treason was historically a capital offense. Get a lawyer and prepare your case. Then spring it on her when she's not prepared. Get the money in order. Document everything you do as a father, etc. Then fight for 50/50 custody and be done with the whore.
