So, there's a chance I may be laid off (job of 25+ years) I pay a lot in child support.

If I'm laid off it wont happen until later this year. I'm in New York State.

I know - once/if I'm laid off, I can petition to have child support modified. I know I have to show the court I was laid off through no fault of my own, etc. I also carry our child on my health insurance.

Does anyone have experience in how long it takes for timing of child support modifications (from the date filed to the actual payment being modified)? My concern is I'm laid off, and it takes 6 months for this to be changed.
