Hi all, so I've M42 been divorced for about 3 years now. Lost a bit of weight, feel physically better and signed up to all those dating apps about a year ago. I've had matches but I prevent myself from engaging so never went on any dates. I have a friend of mine who is also divorced and was all about dating until he met his now girlfriend.

He tries his best to push me to date, guide me but has a totally different emotional reaction to this than me. I prefer deeper connections while he is about surface level physical gratification.... At least he was to begin with.

That said, I've only slept with 3 women in my life although I've had other situations besides the sex. This is where he's trying to push me.

I get his stance as a friend. But I prefer emotional connections first and in fact I still think about my first love since our connection was both physical and emotional (she's friends with him so there's always a connection).

Regardless, he thinks I'm too emotional. I don't disagree fully but I find myself with an above average emotional intelligence and feel more than others.

Am I wrong to push back? Are there any others like this? It can get lonely thinking I'm abnormal.
