I'm 41 she's 38, we have a 4 year old son. I've been the main breadwinner while in the past couple years she's been working but basically stashing most of her income and benefits. I've been paying for her lifestyle, vacations, while she's been spending on vacation for inlaws, most likely siphoning money out since as she said there is no money. Assets are being split 50/50 but she's been pushing for child support and spousal support.

I'm incorporated and pay myself roughly the same amount as her but I make twice as much. She basically wants to go after my business which isn't exactly stable (I had a year where I made nothing).

She suggested mediation, I said I want my lawyer to be part of it. She flipped out and said she won't sign anything. It's been over 2 months of me sleeping on the couch and we're not making any progress.

I really want to get rid of her, but I still need 50/50 custody, so I'll have to keep things calm. Not sure what's the best way to proceed at this point, it's a stalemate.

I'm giving her a couple more weeks to work something out and might need to consider litigation. I dont think this is in best interest of anyone , especially my son, since he'll be witnessing the horror that's about to come. He is still young though and so far that hasn't been a problem.

While I don't think she's a bad person, the feeling of betrayal, especially on financial front, has left me very bitter. If it wasn't for my son I'd bury her in legal debt and fight her to the last cent. Maybe things aren't as bad as they appear but I think she's been planning this for a while. Clueless about what to do at this point... 🤷‍♂️
