Crosspost "Many femininity channels are toxic" from /r/TheGirlSurvivalGuide:

I started to watch a lot of these femininity channels on YouTube and I find many to be toxic and or just associating self care/ being a good human with being feminine. The “tips” that I’ve seen are: have a hygiene routine, have a planner, journal everyday, go work out like these things have nothing to do with femininity, in fact most tips that they give I’ve heard from Financial channels when talking about millionaire habits. I’ve seen one that talked about how to “eliminate masculine traits” and it included bragging about yourself and walking away from arguments. These things have nothing to do with masculinity, a negative trait is just that; negative. No one likes someone who brags and walking away from an argument has everything to do with just being the bigger person sometimes. These channels made me feel less like a woman for a while, until it clicked that sometimes energy is just energy and everyone no matter man, woman and everyone in between should have self care, talk in a nice manner and wear what you feel confident in. One of my biggest role models in life is RBG and most of these femininity channels would probably consider her masculine, even though she’s the reason we as women have many freedoms now in the US. And how she went to college to learn and not to “find a man”. I’ve also seen advice that says go to the library to find a “high value man” or even consider moving to a different city if your serious about dating. It all just seems like they are putting on an act. And even view dating like a Business instead of a human interaction.

This was a lot and all over the place, but does anyone else notice how toxic these spaces are? I can’t be the only one.
