rollo tomassi read The Game and became a PUA. he then went on to write his own book called The Rational Male (published in 2013) which is the "book he wanted to read". he basically combined PUA with "female nature" pretending to be an expert on actual relationships and "intersexual dynamics". some people really liked his book and it laid the foundation for the future of the red pill community.

however, the red pill forum on reddit wasnt actually started by rollo, it was started by some other guy.

it was all misogyny from the beginning.

and i do not know how exactly things developed from the creation of the forum. or even if this was the first one. because rollo initially used to post on some other active pua forum.

so this is kind of a confusing question because the guy who started the forum here on reddit, im pretty sure is completely irrelevant to what it is now.

but basically red pill is a pua community and uses rollos book as a sort of main contribution which was published in 2013 so i guess you could say "red pill" started in 2013. but "red pill" is actually just an expansion of pua communities that existed beforehand, but it all seemed to become more popular some time after rollos book.

I discovered the pickup/seduction community a year or two before that stupid book, there were some guys who had approaches that were more based on directness and masculinity but the redpill as we know it today was not really there. The mantra was more "learn to love women", "women are cute and fun" and "negativity is bad game", and for some "leave her better than you found her" was a big deal, overall a very positive and helpful community.

It was actually a goldmine in many ways even if there was also alot of nonsense, especially in regards to being aware of what NOT to do, thats the part that would still be useful to most guys who would seek stuff like that out today, how to not be unattractive, alot of guy have mannerisms and behaviors they need to shed if they want to be more succesful with women, alot of it seems obvious yet many guys never really figure it out on their own, much of it is very simple but a little counterintuitive. Ironically what 99% of "PUA gurus" teach today is mostly the nonsense, usually made worse by countless cycles of re-invention, Its not really that complicated and I think they are very aware that if they taught the stuff that works there would be no costumers for their next book/seminar, its basically a scam.
