I think for a lot of guys it starts with some kind of intense heartbreak or betrayal from a girl they are in love with. That’s what happened to me. Essentially I was cheated on by the girl I thought I was gonna marry after being together for several years- found out she had been hiding things from me and lying.

I then blocked her on all social media which is kind of what kicked it off. All of a sudden I started getting a lot of redpill videos- it makes me think that the social media algorithms and audience targeting saw that recently a girl went from labeled as “in a relationship” to “blocked” on Facebook. So naturally it pushed all kinds of relationship links and videos. There was a ton of “get your gf back” type videos and courses- very money driven. Being in a very vulnerable, broken, and angry state, I was an easy target for this kind of content.

All in all- it kind of helped me in terms of motivating me to get my life together which is good, however it left me very angry and bitter towards women as a whole. I am thankful to not be in that mental state anymore. I don’t want to go through my life with hatred in my heart. And I especially don’t want to use manipulation tactics to try to win over a women. I no longer view that kind of content and my overall mental well-being has greatly improved. However, I now have a lot of real life experience when it comes to relationships and can better navigate them through the lens of my past pains and failures.

Well many men cannot find any sexual or romantic partners. That creates a sense of hatred and frustration against women i think. These youtubers show stats, stories etc which put the blame on mainly women for the way dating markets are. That kind of takes the responsibility away from the man and hence i think these men connect to those videos or concepts in general

I am in my mid-30s and never had success with women. Ironically, I have never seen a full video from any of the typical red pill youtubers. I learned about manosphere, redpill and blackpill basically from anti-redpill and anti-incel communities such as r/IncelTear, r/menslib or r/exredpill. And still, the ideology sucked me in.
