I don't allow myself to be treated poorly, yet still come into contact with many assholes both professionally and personally. I don't allow those people access to my time or attention or to upset me like they used to. Sadly, I haven't been "attracting" good people. That has nothing to do with me and everything to do with the state of things in the world.
The power of attraction idea is dangerous new age woo that inevitably leads to self blame when you have negative experiences that are beyond your control. There are a lot of shitty people out there.

Yes. My exes actually got more and more deranged, depraved and dangerous, and I know for sure I’ve been maturing this whole time.
The problem with this sort of thinking is that it makes you think you’re too smart to get conned, too savvy to get played, and that is exactly the kind of person it takes to manipulate. Someone that believes it won’t happen to them.
They are so stubborn to this fact that they will rationalize glaring red flags away in attempt to soothe their unacceptable cognitive dissonance.

Yes!! The Law of Attraction is rife with self blame and it revictimizes those who have been dealt with a hard hand at life because "they had negative thoughts and that manifested into their misfortune". No matter how levelled up you are, you'll be filtering through bad people. The more you're levelled up, the more snakes in the grass appear.

Most definitely! :) my last ex added so much value to my life for several months. Even though it was bad at the end, he impacted my life in a very positive way. Now my standards are even higher!

I’ve definitely found this to be true! It’s because I stopped accepting shitty behavior from people when I would have accepted it before. Then as I work on things, I become more and more aware and my standards get higher and higher. It’s a virtuous cycle that feeds on itself.
