So question: I just dumped my nvm ex who was an alcoholic, didn’t show that he cared, and was really dismissive of me and acted like he didn’t want me around. I learned that I can’t love him enough to be a better man. Throughout the relationship one of his friends always went out of his way to make me feel welcome, included, and cared for. Overall, the friend was treated me exactly the way I wished the ex did. The friend recently expressed interest in getting to know me more and said he’d like to take me on a date after the covid mess is over. Is it a pick-me move to date my exes close friend?

So many men EXPECT their woman to train/fix/coddle them. It's so sad. When I told my husband that I am tired of constantly having to teach him, he hits back with the "this is what marriage is about. No matter what."

And this is why I no longer believe in the "you guys grow together" rhetoric that's pushed on young women. It's almost never you and yours growing together. It's the girl being a rehab centre while he uses her for emotional support before finding "the one".

The only time that rhetoric applies is when you're both on the level and focused on bettering yourselves and choose to share that.
