I've been on one date with a guy who seems like a HVM. Booked reservations at a lovely restaurant..respectful..we share a lot of values and seem quite compatible. Second date planned as soon as the first ended.

He texted today saying his friend had a bereavement and he had to travel out of town for the funeral and support his friend so had to cancel our date. When I said that's fine and sent my condolences he apologised and went a bit quiet. Later he asked if we could meet for a drink that night before he left though it would be quite late in the evening. I hesitated to agree and told him it's a bit short notice as I've had a busy day and may be tired in the evening. I also didnt want to come off as being readily available. But after a couple of hours I figured he had a good reason to cancel the initial date and I didn't want to wait over a week to see him again, we had a good vibe. I said I would meet him that evening before he left.

He then texted saying he thinks he is being selfish to drag me out tonight when I am tired and he would rather date 2 be a fun evening rather than him being in a sad mood because of the bereavement. I didn't know how to react so I just said "Ok". I want to tell him that I don't enjoy the push and pull, he cancelled our initial second date and now cancels the plan he rescheduled at short notice. I feel like a puppet and it's frustrated me. He showed a lot of promise but not sure if this is the fuckboy coming through or I am overthinking this. Not sure whether to leave it now or respond to him with something more substantial. He's apologised again and I just said "Cool"...it's only date 2 and he's already apologising. Am I being harsh here?
