I wouldn't let a first date pick me up. Mama said don't get in the car with strangers. And don't show a stranger where you live, either.

On the same note, don't go straight home after a date. There's no stopping a man who is truly determined to follow you home, but don't make it easy for him, and give yourself a chance to notice if it's happening. Go to the store. Stop for gas at a brightly lit gas station. Take a roundabout way home.

Establish a check-in time with someone you trust, where if you haven't confirmed your safety by that time, they will call the police. For extra safety, establish some kind of code, like "if I include a cat emoji, I'm in danger, call the police immediately." or, "if I don't include an upside down smiley, it's not me sending the message, call the police immediately."

Don't let him pick you up, meet him someplace public.

Don't drink on the first date; have Perrier and lime.

Don't leave your drink unattended or let him get it at the bar; take it from the waitress.

Always meet in a public place like a bar or a restaurant that will have other people around; do not walk in a park or other secluded area with a man you just met.

If he's being creepy or dangerous, just leave. Get help from the waitress or bartender if you need it.

Pay attention to your intuition. Remember: Nice girls get killed, bitches get home safely.

Check in with your friend when you arrive safely home.

Observe any red flags, like him continually "testing" your boundaries, or anything else that seems "off." Don't continue to spend time with anyone that makes you uncomfortable. You don't owe him anything, not your time, not your attention.

Only go on dates in places where you feel safe driving to and can run away quick. Don’t drive far to meet a man, especially on the first dates. Make hiM drive to see you. You have to be able to get away ASAP, and furthermore, know the area well enough to go to a random shopping center if you feel like he is following you.

Date in a public place (if he invites you at his home, just block him), don't tell them where you live and where you work, don't drink alcohol, let him know that lots of people like friends or parents know that you are with him(or pretend if you didn't tell anyone). Like someone else said, you don't home straight, and also pretend that you will go home with friends after the date. Don't go into districts or place you don't know or barely know.
