First off, I'm SO glad I found this sub...it has 100% changed the way I see myself and potential partners, as well as having an amazing, HVW friend.
I (35F) am a recovering pickmeisha who is determined to not fall back into old habits, and just started dating again after being with 3 LVMs in a row (2 relationships and 1 situationship).
I just had a great first date with a HVM. Asked for my number and a date after 2 days of chatting, set a date, time, and place days in advance and actually called me to confirm.
He's educated, cultured, and earns a respectable living. He was respectful, gentlemanly, wouldn't let me pay, was very candid with what he was looking for, and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me and what I was looking for. And he is absolutely adorable! A little sex talk came up but I changed the subject, and he never went back to it. Gave me a very short and sweet goodbye kiss at the end after asking me first, we chatted a little bit after I got home, and then asked for another date before we left.
So, how do I not mess this up? I really think he could have potential. I'm used to dealing with men who lovebomb, are pushy with sex, emotional avoidants, cheapskates, and guys who come on strong in the beginning and then lose interest once you show interest back. I tend to get attached quickly (especially after sex), have a bad habit of chasing men and always taking the initiative, and I sometimes rush and force things (which I want to stop doing) when a guy isn't showing reciprocal interest and effort.
And what are some signs I should look for that he is potentially a true HVM, and just not one in disguise? Is this even possible to distinguish early on? Thank you ladies in advance!
