I used to take pride in how long I allowed myself to “heal.” Maybe I needed that time then but today I don’t. I realized guys just repress their shit and then try to rebound immediately as if you meant nothing. I think that’s disrespectful to the relationship on anyone’s party. Give it a month or so, at least. Damn.
Here are my steps:
Feel somber for a day or so. Reflect a little but don’t get too lost.
Talk to some friends who can help you understand the process better with an external view so you can do better next time.
Spend time on side projects and with friends! This is important as you want your excitement to still be sparked!
Focus on what makes you feel empowered — painting, work, learning something new, etc.
Look happy every where you go and don’t post sappy shit online :)
Start flirting with the idea of dating (if you have time). If you don’t care, then don’t. But if you’re not dating because you’re still in love with the ex, I think you should go on a few dates (with no expectations of course). It is a good boost of confidence.
Become the girl every guy desires but can’t attain ;) Your ex will notice but what matters is what you attract someone better — a real man ;)
