I want to start off that I haven't dated anybody in a good while for personal reasons. I had this guy, let's call him Christopher, who I was doing basically everything but officially dating. He just got out of a relationship and we both established what our boundaries were - hence we wanted to spend a lot of time together but not officially be a couple. A bit hard to explain but right now I know I'm not ready for an official relationship yet. The main reason is because of how terrible my ex, Daniel, was.

Long story cut short I met Daniel when I was naive about relationships. As his friend said, it was like watering a dead flower, but we continued. Embarrassing but I was him for about 4 years. I always kept going back even though in the end it was just hook ups and he won't hang out with me outside of bed. I was dumb because I was getting offers to go on date with other guys but I always said no. Yet for some reason Christopher attracted me.

So after I started talking to Christopher more I started ignoring Daniel. Christopher taught me how I should be treated. For example I love Stephen King, one of my favorite authors. We went to watch IT 2 at the movies (haven't gone to the movies in years) and grabbed drinks first cause he wanted me to try something new. He would message me when a new King movie came on Netflix so I could watch it with him.

But what made me appreciate him most was when it lost a piece of my Fitbit Versa. It's this little plastic piece that holds down my watch strand so it won't be flapping around. After spending time with him I realized that I was missing it. I freaked out cause I thought I would have to buy a new one or leave my watch strand loose. I messaged Christopher and he told me that he found it and put it away in a safe spot because he knows how I am and that having the strand loose would've driven me crazy. That's when I realized that Daniel was the absolute worse LVM because he threw away all of my stuff. I left shot glasses and bracelets in his room - thrown away. My handmade gifts-thrown away when mad.

I wish I listened to my friends sooner but I had false hope that the dead flower was going to be alive again. I wasted 4 years with somebody who didn't care about me. I finally learned that there are men who do care about you and your interests. I'm still not dating but I talk to guys sometimes. As soon as they do something I don't like I stop talking to them. Might be harsh but I'm not about to waste my time again
