I also follow old dating advice of Matthew Hussey (good but not the best, he is too nice) about Attraction Formula :

1 Visual chemestry (be fit, well dress, feminin, classy mannerism and also kino/slight physical touch)

2 Percived challenge (show you have standard to be you, don t fall in love too easy, don t give up too much of your time to him)

3 Percived value (talk about what you like of your life, about what you have passion for, your friends, family, adventure,hobby, sell yourself well)

4 Connection (ask to him but also talk about yourself about why he do that job, what is important in his life, what his value are and yours, why he love that book or that movie, share personal experience and ask about his)

And also be slightly witty and cocky

Everything everyone else already said + this reminder:

You're showing up to the date being your best self, making an authentic attempt at connecting with someone. Don't assume the guy is doing the same.

First dates are for screening out the first tier of trolls and clowns. Men who F up so badly, they do it on the first date. Others take a few-several dates - generally about 3 months before they F up. But plenty of men bomb on first dates-- they have no patience, zero respect for women, and they are looking for someone to exploit, so that is why they treat first dates so terribly. To see what you'll put up with it. Even more true if you're doing online dating.

Be charming, fun, light, make your eyes sparkle, be a little circumspect, be interested, touch his arm once or twice to show physical interest, laugh pleasantly.
