Serial Dating Until Proposal

I used to be too romantic about this, and enjoyed the exclusive dating part.

Now, weeks from turning 32, when my ex of a YEAR left me for his ex (whom he’d been broken up with for five years and suddenly took up with her when we were having a rough patch over social media yeah it’s that stupid), I can’t afford to date in turns anymore.

I want to get married and have kids, as much I’d like waste my time dating these idiots in succession, I cant and won’t anymore.

Keep in mind that this was a guy who was texting my mom about going ring shopping over the holidays and then poof. I gave him a pretext, a fight whatever... and gone. Don’t miss the guy - good fucking riddance - but damn if I had had two other simultaneous “boyfriends” during that time...

That being said, it may be difficult if not impossible to build and TEST a bond Good enough for marriage without exclusivity. Part of getting married, a huge part, is trusting someone fully, and that includes trusting their intentions about you, trusting that you can believe what they say and promise, trust them to have your best interest at heart and building a relationship defensively is not conducive to that.

It sounds good and well in theory but when you’re in love, and committed and bonded, the last thing you’ll want is to date other men.

Besides, it has to go both ways: would you really marry a man that up until he proposed to you or up until he bought a ring for you was actively dating other women? Should you two just be emotionally and physically and psychologically exclusive like a switch was turned on, once you decide to marry?

More questions than answers from me on this particular one.

If anybody can suggest a middle ground for this I’d love to hear as I’m barely a month after my breakup and looking to get out there again ugh

This one I refuse to accept but that comes out strictly from dating customs in my country. A cultural thing, like you don't date multiple people at the same time and if you do, you're piece of trash.
