Yes, those are bad dates. They require no planning, financial investment, thought on his part, or tailoring the date to what you might like or what would impress you. It's a throwaway date. If he's taking on a walk date he doesn't care to impress you, you're just potential easy sex. The hike is ever worse because it's also dangerous. Never go alone with a stranger to the woods. I wouldn't even consider going to a park where I might end up in some unfrequented hidden corner with this person.

I agree about the hiking. I’ve never done a first date hike and never will. The walking around town has been my pickme downfall, though I do now see it for what it is after being on FDS. My particular brand of pickme was the low-maintenance cool girl, so instead of stating, I want to go to this place for dinner, it was more like, cool, let’s meet in abc city and check it out and see what we feel like. This is a very big mindset shift for me because I do like exploring and I was conflating it with first dates without realizing how low it sets the bar. That’s why I love this sub 😊

I like to do that too. You can explore when you have been dating for 3+ months. It's not a never. Glad you have a new perspective.
