Why are we praising men for actually doing what fathers should do? Why is it adorable or hilarious when a man doesn't automatically do what he should do for his child?

I fucking hate it when men call it "babysitting" - it's like, no ya jerk, that's your kid and that's just childcare.

I hear so many men calling themselves great fathers for doing the same things women do, but women don’t think they are “great” for doing them. My husband got up with our babies sometimes too, because mothers need a freakin break sometimes. It’s exhausting work. He didn’t expect a medal for it.
