I thought of analogy recently and thought it might generate some interesting discussion here.

I have seen some feminists express a belief that all man-on-woman assault, rape, and murder must be reduced to zero. Sounds awesome, right? We're all down for that. Well, I think we can all also agree that it would be ideal if we lived in a society which reduced abortions to zero purely through education, safe sex, etc.

Maybe you can see where this is going now... When a feminist refuses to accept that it's not realistically possible to eliminate all cases of assault etc, and instead insists that this must be achieved all costs, they are actually thinking in the same way that pro-life folks feel about abortion - and they certainly would not want to be associated with that. But obviously, neither issue is that simple.

It's not a perfect analogy, but I hope I articulated it clearly enough. Have you guys noticed any other examples of contradictory rhetoric like this? Do you think it might be useful to point it out when discussing these issues?
