I think we have it backwards. Men aren't esteemed highly by other men because they get a ton of sex. They get a ton of sex because they're esteemed highly by other men. The status lures the women, the women don't lure the status.

I know I don't esteem men more who get lots of sex. Quite the opposite. But women certainly esteem men who get lots of sex more. Hence plate-spinning.
