Well, this part definitely isn't:

First of all IQ tests are seldom actually administered to MEN or WOMEN, for the most part they are administered to BOYS and GIRLS... so that part of the statement is itself pretty fundamentally false.

Second IQ tests are inherently problematic as a measurement of actual "intelligence" (which itself is actually a rather dubious and amorphous abstract word with no single definition). They can test for knowledge about certain things (which are at best valid within a culture & language & region & even "era"); they can test for certain types of "problem solving" abilities, which are usually actually more like "puzzle solving", either word puzzles or geometric/graphic puzzles (and again obviously language & culture, and "exposure/experience" with certain things will significantly "skew" the results).

Finally, males score both higher (and a percentage of them scoring SIGNIFICANTLY higher) than females, as well as lower (with generally the lowest tier being boys with actual mental impairments, Downs syndrome, etc -- and for whatever reason the rates for those are higher among male offspring.)

Now the study author MUST know all of the above. Which makes the statements themselves even more ridiculous.

So...

What is the meaning behind the publication?

Simple. It's yet another "pandering" study... what is called "normative science" (and is not really "science" at all) -- where the entire purpose of the study is to support a pre-existing belief, or political agenda, etc. -- in this case, rather doubtless it is designed to create a rationale for why "boys" are doing badly in schools, so as to deflect any criticism or changes to the feminist "girl-centered" programs that have been increasingly embedded in the educational system during past few decades.

I don't really care about IQ as from life I have to see that there is book smarts, street smarts, emotional smarts

i remember watching a program on this decades ago and they said the male brain is on average bigger than the females, and pointed to the fact that its an inherent difference that is sex linked and indicated a clear division of structure and men being more intelligent etc, but they stressed there was no "as yet" correlation with intelligence.

any way years later i was watching some professor and the reality is that the male brain is only on average bigger because its in proportion to the size difference between men and women.

no body claims a small guy is less intelligent than a tall guy but their brains share the same size difference as men and women.

i,e the difference in size is purely a result of the proportional size difference of men and womens bodies that is all.

its ridiculous this wasn't pointed out earlier.

Different studies find different correlations on brain size. Some as high as 0.6 and some as low as 0.0.

Although women are different, so I wouldn't assume they are dumber because they have smaller brains. The neurons are most likely more densely packed. Einstein for example had a normal brain size but he had more "folds" in his brain as well (implying higher density?).

Generally speaking Asians have larger brains the Whites, and Whites have larger brains than other races. This correlates at least somewhat with the differences in test scores.

Finally, it's important to remember while the average or median IQ of men and women is the same, the bell curve is not, meaning men have more geniuses but also more mentally handicapped persons as well. This is likely due to men having only one X chromosome, so it's either great or not so much.
