I only recently discovered MGTOW. As far as I can tell, it simply puts a name on something I've believed for a long time. At it's core MGTOW is about when to care and when not to care. This is a difficult lesson to learn because it's human nature to share your beliefs and want others to agree with you.

It seems to me that a lot of people define MGTOW as pointing out how they hate/dislike so many things. Everyone has been wronged in some way, and from that they have decided to turn their back on whatever wronged them. And that's ok, but it's not what defines you. What defines you is what you do after deciding to change.

MGTOW stands for "Men Going Their Own Way". There's nothing in that phrase about hating/disliking anything. It's about men and what they are doing, not what they aren't doing. So if something has no place in your "own way", then you simply ignore it. You don't care. When someone asks what you are doing with your life, you don't say, "I'm not getting married, I'm not dating, I hate this and that." Instead you say, "I work at this business doing this kind of work. I spend my free time doing this and that." Define yourself using positive and productive terms, not with negative and absent terms.

If someone asks about something that you hate, it's perfectly fine to say that you hate that thing and why. But if you are constantly initiating conversation about topics you hate then you are letting these things control you. You also don't need to turn it into a debate where you try to convince everyone else to join your side. Simply make your point and let the conversation move on. The more you care about something you hate the more it controls you. The more you talk about things you claim to not care about, the more it shows you really do care. I'm not saying you should never talk about the things you hate. There is a time and place for in-depth discussions.

Turn your attention to the things you care about, your own life, your health, your friends, your finances, your work and hobbies. Let these things define you. Show your positive passion for these things, and you will find the freedom and peace of going your own way. If others ridicule you for this, I say let them. Nothing they say or do is part of "my way", so they don't matter. If other MGTOWs chastise you for not being a perfect example of MGTOW, fine, whatever. That's why it's called "my way" and not "our way". My life isn't a competition or a test, and I have nothing to prove.

And with that I'm off to play some games with my friends, smoke cigars, and drink beers. Peace out, MGTOW.
