I've wrestled with this over the past decade or so.

To buy or not to buy: THAT has been my question.

That's a very broad question. So I'll just write, and take from it what you will.

Like most things in life, your intentions matter a hell of a lot more than the actual experience. It is ultimately just fucking. Just fucking. So compare the pair and weigh up the odds. Who have you got more chance of getting laid with? Who is going to cost more? How safe is it? An escort or a Tinder thot? End of the day they’re both prostitutes except one is lying about it and the other is being honest.

I’d go with the escort any day - and if I don’t like what I see, I can leave and find another... No hurt fees fees or shallow conversions to be had. It’s just business.

As a liberal, I believe that the only things that should be illegal are things that violate the rights of others. Prostitution does not. Even if I don't approve of something, I do not think I have the right to use violence or the threat of violence to prevent it if it does not violate the rights of others. And since I don't have the right to use violence or threat to prevent something, I cannot give that right to anyone else including the police. You cannot give that which you do not have yourself. And since the power of the state, including the police, comes from the people, that means the police do not have the right to use violence or the threat of violence to prevent prostitution. This means they right to arrest someone for prostitution since an arrest is inherently a threat of violence if a person does not submit to being thrown in a cage and the execution of violence if they resist.

Furthermore, the arguments against prostitution are faulty and actually would support legalizing prostitution. The main argument against prostitution is sex slavery or human trafficking. This is flawed for two reasons. First, we don't make the vast majority of things illegal because they lead to illegal things. For example, alcohol and religion. One could argue that religious freedom is a right, but if so, then so is prostitution as it was made illegal primarily and originally because of religious objections to it. One could also argue that consensual sex is far more of a human right than self-delusion about non-existent supernatural beings.

The second flaw in the main argument is that legalized prostitution actually decreases sex slavery and underage prostitution. So if you actually wanted to stop those two things, you would definitely make prostitution legal. Those who engage in illegal activity lose the protection of the law. Prostitutes can't seek help from the police against abuse or slavery because they are doing something illegal.

Also, if prostitution is legal then it can be regulated. This makes preventing underage prostitution and sex slavery easier to combat.

Third, if prostitution is legal then it kills the market for sex slaves and greatly reduces, if not eliminate, the market for underage prostitutes. After all, why take the risk of using unwilling or underage prostitutes when legal ones are safe and plentiful?

So yes, prostitution should be legal. That said, I would not recommend using one, especially given that they are not regulated. Does an unregulated prostitute always use condoms? If not, they are a bastion of diseases. Plus, from what I've seen on the news, prostitutes are not attractive. Maybe that would change if prostitution were legal. Now if they looked like the prostitutes on Game of Thrones, that would be a different story.

Funny thing is, various forms of prostitution are legal everywhere in the United States and Europe. For example, marrying a rich guy, paid sex in porn, and psuedo-sex in cam sites and OnlyFans.
