Exactly, and i was also shamed for years by family and friends for saying and firmly sticking to i don't want kids. I wish i could get a vasectomy to insure it, but i haven't found a doc willing to give me the proper referral because it is always the same bullshit line of "you are to young to make that decision for your older self" last time i was told this i was 30. I've stood by my don't want kids since i was 14.

Same man I have also maintained that getting married is not for me. Most of my relatives take issue with that but thankfully my parents don’t. So it’s not an all out battle against my family for me.

That's because you are telling them its to prevent pregnancy because you dont want kids. Instead tell them you have a family history of mental retardation on both sides and you dont want to pass that on. It sounds heartless but it is a clinically acceptable answer.
