A while back I posted about some of the advantages of lifting. I stand by that post and believe that there are many advantages to lifting beyond the obvious health ones.

However, a couple of recent posts here, as well as a conversation with a friend at the gym, made me decide to post a warning about the potential folly of lifting culture.

If you've been to almost any gym for a while, you begin to notice something about the male population. They're almost uniformly short. At 6' 1", I sometimes feel like Gulliver in Lilliput when I walk around. I'll admit that my evidence is anecdotal (only the handful of gyms around the world that I've been to), but I'd be willing to bet that this is pretty universal.

The fact of the matter is that most guys who lift do so to score pussy. Which is fine, but let's at least be honest about it. This is certainly why I decided to begin lifting myself, years ago in my blue pill days. While women don't necessarily like the overblown look of Ronnie Coleman, there's no question that they prefer a guy with a nice chest, wide shoulders and a flat stomach. We all know that whole "dad bod" thing a couple of years ago was utter bullshit.

And that's why the gym is filled with short guys. They're trying to overcome a serious hit to their Sexual Market Value, as many women won't even consider dating a short guy. Again, I get it. But let's call it what it is – pure gynocentrism, spending the entire day, even your free time, doing whatever you can to maximize your chances with women. Making money…for women. Working out…for women. Learning game….for women.

As an aside, if you've ever been on a weight lifting forum (including the various fitness forums on reddit) you'll notice that the guys are serious pussy beggars and white knights. Any post by a woman gets upvoted thousands of times, and even the slightest hint of progress by a woman ("So….I thought about losing a bit of weight…where do I start?") is lauded. In my blue pill days, this confused me. Aren't these guys all the testosterone freaks that you would assume are all manly and shit? The serious red-pillers that would treat women like shit? Well, no. It turns out that lifters are, by a large margin, on average more gynocentric than non-lifters. And the reason is obvious. As I said before, the entire hobby is gynocentric.

Now, to a certain degree, this is alright. Lifting is intrinsically healthy, and you can view the gynocentrism as a separate issue. A blue pill guy is gonna blue pill in every aspect of his life. The problem is when a person actually destroys his long-term health prospects for the short-term SMV "advantage" that lifting brings. I'm referring to steroids and other Performance Enhancing Drugs. I understand why guys go that route. When you've lifted for a while you begin to realize that as a life-time natural lifter ("natty") no matter how hard you work, you're never going to look like the guy on the cover of Men's "Health." So I understand the temptation. But sacrificing your health for aesthetic reasons is the height of gynocentrism.

At any rate, that's my point. If you want to go the steroid route, go for it. But you should give careful considerations to the long-term impact and to the reasons why you're making that decision. You may find that your motivations are more gynocentric than anything else. If that's the case, maybe you want to step back and examine yourself before taking the plunge.

Go your own way, gentlemen.
