I’ve actually experienced the exact opposite to my surprise. I had a lot of relatives over last weekend and many whom asked me about my love life or future relationship plans were married women.

I always be upfront and say I’m not interested, etc. and I’ve gotten a lot of support and positive feedback that I’m making a good choice. But when friends ask about it they are confused as shit and jokingly call me gay. Jokes on them, they don’t realize the hell that they are getting themselves into

Love, most women are incapable of love. If there are any capable they must be so rare that you have more chance of winning the lottery than actually meeting one, and if you do meet one you have no way of knowing she is an exception to the rule. This is why even if NAWALT they may as well be AWALT. Would you eat from a bag of poisonous sweets just because you are told 2 or 3 might not be poisonous?

I was assumed to be "gay". Meaning that men are just expected to tolerate whatever for sex. Tolerate any and all things for sex and out of fear of being called gay.

I don't get reactions because I don't discuss it with other people.

Only time it came up recently was with my doc after my heart incident. His staff (all women) had felt bad because I didn't have any family in the area. I mentioned that I wouldn't mind maybe 1 or 2 of his nurses keeping me company.

"Stay away from women."

He's married too.

I interact almost exclusively with men, all I seem to get from them for being a long time bachelor is respect. There is more to it than that though, a big part is being an active, healthy man who is proactive and positive about life. If a man gives up on women because he gave up on life in general then nobody cares. But if you are that kind of happy, accomplishing, make-life-happen man but still turn your back on relationships then your decision becomes a kind of indictment on women. And they don't like that.

You're right about people being afraid to be alone. What's really interesting is that that's the one thing that will set them free. If they don't do it, they'll be in lock and chains forever and not know that they've had the key the whole time. You gotta be on your own and take on your own responsibilities and be independent. If you can't do that, then any relationship you have with a person is based off of what they can do and/or provide to you, and not just because there a nice person that you respect and want to be around.

If you go into a relationship with the idea of what you can extract from the person and of what they can provide you or how they can or should take care of you, then you'll never be happy because you know that you disgust yourself, and you know that you can't get away from that.
