Hell, the original series had 7 OG Iron Chefs were all male. This was before no one had to pander to WIMMEN and only competence was the requirement.

I don't even need to mention Gordon Ramsey, 1 of the most favorites.

Men are better, period. Look at the highest rated michelin star chefs in the world, the vast majority are men. Men have ECLIPSED women in what was once known as a female dominated space in the blink of an eye, men are even better at being women than women are (trannies winning female competitions).

Historically speaking, cooking was not the domain of women. It involved large and heavy pots (cast iron), handling big pieces of meat - like whole hogs, butchery, and dealing with large scale live fire and coals.

Only later in history, with the advent of the industrial revolution, women were able to handle cooking, by the time it was possible for a woman to handle it all e.g the modern kitchen we all know, then the "women belong in the kitchen" thing started.

In France, the best selling cooking book for more than 3 generations is called "I know how to cook", written by a woman. And it was named so, due to common belief that cooking should be left for men. It is also noticeable that areas in the world where men dominated cooking, have much better and developed cuisines - Japan, Italy and France come to mind.

Women cook quantitatively more (could be debatable in some parts of the world in this day & age) but Men cook qualitatively better. The best chefs in the world are men. Every-time i visit any restaurant be it a low budget friendly hotel or an expensive one the chefs there are men. Can't even imagine women in professional eating outlets since they are strenuous jobs for which they are not fit.

as someone who works in food and beverage I cannot say every woman is a disaster in kitchen setting as I have worked with one female chef who was very competent/skilled and not a bitch to compensate for being in a male dominated space. Again though it was one in all my years in the industry so far, but yes men dominate the cooking circuit these days hands down. Emotional thinking has no place in high pace kitchen hence ladies will succumb to immense stress real quick whilst men can seemingly keep it together and get through the shit storm without a meltdown.

Food in high-throughput venues is prepared using automated multifunction oven (that is with classic thermal, convection and steam in one). These are controlled by a computer and have can be programmed - like you can make a recipe (via touchscreen) and then save it on pendrive, then import on other ovens.

Lived in a University share house with 4 girls and 3 guys. None of the women cooked anything for over a year. All the guys made an effort at least 5 days a week. So to answer your question I don't know as I didn't see them try. Maybe that's just lazy, self-entitled Australian women. The Asian and Indian women I know are much better. Aussie girls are the pits!

Women are utter shit when under stress, and cooking in a professional restaurant environment is one of the most stressful jobs around. Men can handle stress much better than women.

I know a few chefs and restaurateurs and female chefs usually work alone for a smallish spot. Real kitchens with multiple chefs and specializations, are all-male. Chefs like to trash-talk while busy and yell at each other for fucking up. There is a formal pecking order and very careful attention to who is not carrying his own weight, especially during peak loads. Efficiency and results are valued over anything else, so drug or alcohol use during paid hours is common if you can cope and get the tickets done. You are expected to step in for sick or otherwisely incapacitated peers, what usually means two shifts on the same day. This is a young man's job and corps spirit is extremely high.

Now imagine your typical independent strong woman in such an environment. The place with the independent strong woman doesn't hire women as kitchen maids anymore since one dropped a co2-cartridge (whipped cream) into the frit and had legal problems firing her.

Hobby of mine is dining at high end places. All the best restaurants are all men. Male chef and the most posh and select are always all male wait staff. Captain, Wine Steward, waiter, all the staff. So yes, I am going with better in the kitchen.

When I was growing up the women in my family were better at cooking due to the fact that they did all the cooking. The only times a man would cook would be if we were camping or fishing with no women around, or on a barbecue. Nowadays the young women in the family don't cook much and the men fill in the gap, and I'd say that they are more or less equal in skill. What the young women don't seem to realise though is that their mothers and grand mothers earned their place at the table by what they contributed. The present generation of women don't contribute anything except their availability for sex, which makes them disposable and replaceable.
