Reddit has censored this content. Their so-called commitment to "creating community and belonging" (Reddit: Rule 1) does not extend to all users, specifically "The rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority". Again, I cannot conscionably reconcile their hypocrisy. I do not believe in many of the stances or views shared on Reddit, both in communities that have been banned or those allowed to remain active. I do, however, believe in the importance of allowing open discourse to educate all parties, and I believe censorship creates much more hate than it eliminates. For these reasons and more, I am permanently moving my support as a consumer to Ruqqus. You know what..? The last time I had a problem weighing heavily on me, I went to talk to friends. Male friends, and female friends.
You know what I learned about being an adult in his mid-50s? I learned that nobody gives a shit. Nobody fkn cares. Lifelong friends of 40 years pretend to listen, or just talk over me and change the subject. They have their own adult problems to deal with.
Yup, I learned a valuable lesson even at my age: Man up, and deal with your own problems. Nobody gives a damn.

Because it's true. Society doesn't place any value on men's emotional health. Very few institutions exist to address it. When women speak about their problems, people listen. When men do, nobody cares.
There is still an expectation that men be Gary Cooper; strong and silent. And to that end, that's the direction I'll go. I had a real dose of needing to talk to people, and being rebuffed at every turn. So now I just deal with my own shit, and not burden anyone else.
I solved that last problem on my own. I'll do the same with the next.

Nah, they would. It's just that listening to someone's problems means real "listening". As in, you be quiet, let the person speak, and actively listen to what they're saying. If they ask you for advice, you give them advice. Don't try to think about what you'll say next. Just listen.
Most people don't do that. And most don't want to bear your burden in addition to theirs. They really don't want to be bothered. It really is quite an imposition to dump on a friend, in my opinion.
But they would miss you if you were gone. That much is true.

Yep, I went through a very difficult period in my early fifties that resulted in severe depression amongst other things. I quickly found out who my real life long friends were. Luckily for me, I had plenty of social credit and had people who stuck by me. In the end, it was only me who was able to fight my way out of the abyss. My dear friends who stuck by me did, however, cushion the fall and for that, I am forever grateful. Today I am doing just fine.

No. Society is a general word. The law has a responsibility to uphold men’s rights and the vectors that influence the law to influence it to do that.

Look dude, it's pretty simple. Not being mentally fucked up isn't a right, it's your own burden to pick up, and that's all there is to it, and the government should do something about it, but it isn't a RIGHT. Everyone is pushing for the government and world to provide support to people beyond their basic rights, usually, which is fine and good.

Was chatting with a girl on Snapchat from my hometown, had been casually talking for a couple weeks but no meet up due to corona. She did something I thought insensitive/rude. Honestly that makes sense. I’m 20 and don’t know who to talk to about unorthodox lifestyles so I’d like to ask for some thoughts from someone more matured if you don’t mind.
I’m not inclined on marriage either, but want to date for extended amounts of time. I’m emotionally confused and insecure because I want this with multiple girls instead of being tied down to one.
Some recent events and corona has driven me to try to get my head straightened out. Through this I’ve learned to explore interests and engage in passions instead of dating out of boredom so I’m less likely to be dependent of others. This said I still crave connections and relationship dynamics, but am less focused on ‘what’ compared to ‘how’ the relationship is. What are your thoughts on this?

ehh no I disagree, it's a false dichotomy. Yes you have a point that owning your responsibilities makes you a man, makes you free, and builds you up as an adult. But not everything is within our power. The scales have flipped too far (or maybe were always there) into the opposite direction. Many men perish because simply nobody gives a damn. Not their friends, not their family, not society at large... and instead rely on the generic advice to "man up" in often life-and-death situations.

I actually think that society does care somewhat about men's mental health. The problems is that, rather than being explained and unexpected episodes, most mental health issues for men are a reactive response to other concrete issues in their lives. And while maybe having a slight concern for "men's mental health", society has zero concern in fixing (or even discussing) 95% of the causes of these mental health problems.
