If by UBI, they mean universal basic income, the point of that idea is if the day ever arrives where most goods and services can be produced for everyone with very little human labor. The idea is that you then have all the wealth that society needs, but people can't afford to buy what they need because there aren't enough jobs; so you'd have basic income as a way to circulate money back to consumers so that the economy still works.

But that's not what the situation is in the U.S. today. The U.S. uses lots of human labor -- it just chooses to outsource that labor. Bring that labor back home, and I'm thinking that you'd solve a lot of the issues that people are arguing for basic income to solve. The idea of outsourcing so much, and not producing a reasonable amount in return for consuming, and that this is solved by either borrowing money to such levels that how will you ever pay it back and/or just printing money -- the idea that this fixes anything and could last any great length of time -- I just don't know where they are getting this idea. Bring back jobs first, before even thinking seriously of something like basic income. There would then probably be no need for further consideration of basic income any time soon, in my opinion.

Also, when you hear about experiments in basic income, you usually hear about people in some city getting $300 a month. How does $300 a month pay their basic expenses? One of the points of basic income is that you get enough of it to cover basic necessities, to where you have freedom to, for example, start a business, or walk away from a job that doesn't treat its employees with respect. I don't see $300 per month doing that, which makes it seem like wasted money to me. Also, it's one thing to pay it for a city, but compare that with a country.

I see basic income right now as basically an idea for a theoretical world where almost everything is automatically made by machines with a very small number of human workers. I don't think that we are anywhere near that type of world yet.

UBI? Don't make me laugh, it's bad enough those clowns want to raise taxes to give illegals free healthcare but UBI? That shit would wreck havoc on the economy. Those fools are literally guaranteeing Trump a 2nd term, why doesn't he wear glasses? Because he already has 2020.
