Had this discussion with a chick a few years ago that was pursuing me. She was so tightly wound she would pick fights then pretend I was abusive. The final straw was this shit right here. She wanted to dictate who I could talk to, but when I said it had to be a two way street if she expected that level of commitment she went ballistic, said I was controlling etc.

I told her she was free to talk and go out with whomever she wanted as I was free to decide that wasn't for me. She made a big drama scene and haven't heard from her since. Life has been peaceful ever since.

My ex from many years ago and I used to bring up the idea of an open relationship a lot. We finally sat down and discussed the reality of it one day. We ended up deciding it was a good idea.

After we had concluded the discussion and decided on officially having an open relationship, she seemed excited. She was like "This will be fun. You'll be my main man and I'll have 3 or 4 other guys on the side."

I was like "Yeah, that's how it works, and I'll have a few chicks on the side myself."

She goes "Whoa, hold up." She laughed "No."

I was like "What do you mean? That's what an open relationship is. You hook up on the side and I hook up on the side."

She laughed again and said "Never mind. I just thought... never mind I don't want one anymore. Just me and you."

She later cheated on me twice and blamed me for it. I wanted to break up with her face to face and bail but didn't want her to know so I acted cool. Just in the time it took for the phone calls, and the 15 minutes I spent at her place before telling her it was over, she treated me like I was the most pathetic loser to ever exist... I guess because she thought I was going to stay with her after she went and got jizzed on by some random dude. I don't think I've ever been kicked so hard while I was down. It was like she was getting off on it. I think I was tripping because she literally looked like a demon in that moment.

True story. I had a girlfriend who cheated on me. She called me up to tell me she had dated someone else. I admonished her for cheating, and she claimed they hadn't fucked yet; therefore, it was not cheating. I said that, yes, dating someone was cheating and she was disgusting for doing that. Then she claimed I was a jerk for not trusting her. I told her I had trusted her, but she just got done telling me she violated my trust.

She cheated. But that somehow was my fault.

My sad fact of reality is this, almost all relationships have a legitimate power dynamic. For me, it is especially observable in romantic relationships. It might start off a 50-50 Partnership if you're lucky, but someone will always be the dominant. There's just no way around this. Today, it is prevalent and encouraged for women to be the leaders of relationships, and if necessary, to make the man feel as though he has some control. He does not. Not socially, not legally. If the man tries to exert any control he will be labeled controlling, and when she separates from him she will take all of his s*** legally. It is modern reality that the second you let a woman into your personal life you are handing over large amounts of control over yourself and your belongings.
