When I criticize women - in general - in the company of women (usually a mixed setting or 1-on-1) I seem to get this a lot:

"You're just bitter!"

First off, women criticize men like it's a national pastime, they do it loudly and proudly, and there doesn't seem to be much pushback. Are they saying this because it's what they would hear if they criticize women. I don't even get how it applies to me -- for the most part these women don't know me well enough to make such an assertion. What should I do next time? Should I even do anything? Should I ask her what she means by it? (I.e. "Bitter? Bitter how?" or "What do you mean by that?")
