I don't know about you, but if I was dying and my worst enemy offered to pay for my treatment, I would also tell him to go fuck himself. Apparently having some actual self respect is a thing of the past. It's "toxic masculinity," I guess.

Regarding his cancer, it stemmed as a result of America's broken Healthcare system. Right now politicians are claiming that universal health care = doctor slavery. Nothing is ever going to get fixed.

All of his other problems stemmed from having a wife and kids, its not fair to blame Skyler and the son because they didn't even know (welp she didn't til she figured it out in S3) but the ideal of getting married and having kids is what made him scramble for money to the point where he got so rich his greed took over. 43k is more than enough to live a very comfortable life if you are single and smart with your tax planning. With a proper plan in place, you could avoid paying most if not all taxes completely while contributing to retirement. Go up much higher and you are losing precious hours of your life to pay the government to fund endless wars. If he were single and childless, Walt would have been much happier earning 40k as a teacher than working at Gray Matter or selling his soul to be a kingpin.
