Great article. The last line nails it "The party who will benefit from the reform will gain power within the marriage."

The idea that these laws impact existing marriages and the dynamic those laws produce, that is, if the wife knows that she can take the kids, house, and all of the finances because of the laws in her state, and she's willing to wield that power over her husband whenever there is a disagreement, then basically, the marriage is not a marriage but more a situation of indentured servitude.
