While in Wichita Falls, TX for AF tech school way back in 2005 he came up in conversation as he is from there. Apparently he lost his psychology license after he slept with a patient and shit went bad. That's why he was a consultant for Oprah when she was being sued for saying not to eat beef and ranchers lost a shit ton of money. That's also why guests are on his show as free advice as he can't earn money directly from them due to loosing his license. I never bothered to look into the validity of these claims cause he is so not worth my effort but it would seem to make sense.
