As above, a couple of weeks back. Been divorced for well over a decade and I thought I had her blocked. What followed was both comical and tragic. The comedy was the hamster wheel spinning like a top, recreating the past and plastering over her infidelity and burning hatred of me when she left. It took me a long time to clue into what she was up to before her sudden (to me) departure. The quickly closing browser pages and hiding her phone when I walked into the room and things like that. I just didn't think she was the type to run around. The timing and manner in which she left were planned months in advance (as I later discovered) and intended to cause the maximum amount of grief, and it worked, temporarily, but I bounced back and never ceded my freedom again.

The tragedy? Middle age with tattoos, alcoholism and living alone with a cat. Antidepressants too. None of this brought me any joy aside from straightening out her revisionist version of how things were when we were married. It took a long time apart and that very sad display for her to come down off the pedestal and for me to see her as just another one of "them". Another tragedy is my loss of trust and growing disdain for women, from every culture. I've had the privilege of being able to travel and sample the earthly delights from other cultures, and they're all varying shades of the same thing.

Are there good women in this world? Undoubtedly. Just remember that she will act in her best interests and rarely do they align with your best interests. Enjoy them for what they are and don't put your heart or assets on the line.
