The reviewer for USAtoday bemoaned the fact that there were no woman or people of color in the movie, which prompted another columnist to write, basically, no shit, it's a true story about one group of white men trying to escape another group of white men and being rescued by, you guessed it, some more white men.

Saw it yesterday. Pretty good movie. No contrived romances or shots of doting families back home, just men digging in and getting shit done from start to finish.

Shut the fuck up. It was excellent! This film demonstrates how Nolan is consistently on top of his game. And your support is flawed, as has been pointed out by this sub.

Have you seen the film from about a decade ago called (IIRC) "Atonement" and with what's his face (the young Scottish bloke that plays Professor X in the X men stuff, oh him and the chick from Pirates) -- anyway among other things (not to give away too much, but the story is about an elderly woman author "atoning" for having misunderstood and made a false accusation of a twenty-something man {poor blighter} back when she was a child an accusation that destroyed his life) to recommend it is that there is a good chunk of the film about what happened at Dunkirk (including one scene, a long, unedited single shot -- very impressively done -- that follows the guy staggering into, through & along the unorganized morass of retreating British on & around the beach). Good flick.

Was interested to see the new one -- especially as it boded more about what happened (at least from the Brit perspective, which is as a whole, arguably horribly flawed & propagandistic) at Dunkirk -- and even thought about hitting it in the theater (something I virtually NEVER do)... But given this as well, maybe I'll just wait for the DVD (and then a few months for the price to drop), per my usual practice.

As for the aeronautical accuracy... well, you know as well as I do, that virtually NOTHING hollywood (or ANY film industry) makes is really anywhere near accurate. About the "best" I've ever seen was the Brit series called "Piece Of Cake" about a squadron stationed in France during the so called "Phoney War" portion of WWII that preceded Dunkirk, etc. I believe most of the episodes are on YouTube (and possibly other streaming); well worth the watch I think.

I just saw it, all the people complaining about the fact that all the actors are white men. Took my little brother and saw it right after this post. The movie, shows the valor, sacrifice, and ironically the trepidation that many service men conspicuously displayed. As a veteran this was a great movie.

Recently saw Hacksaw Ridge and thought it was very well done and is an example of what makes have gone through to destroy our enemies. I don't think there were many women fighting in that movie either
