the scraps? Way to diss the blue collar, you elitist bitch. I'm not blue collar though I've done the work but I don't look down on people for what they do especially when it's important like truck driving, coal mining, construction, and garbage collecting. If shit hits the fan, we'll need more of that than stock brokers and marketing executives.

I am blue collar...Own my own business. I know a lot of people. It's safe to say that at least 90% of them (blue collar or not) make/save/invest less than me.
I used to feel a bit of a shame when I was younger till some people full of debt and with the help of their parents too talked down on me cause of my job (really it's nothing shameful at all..just pure hard work and planning). I called them out saying that not only I have no debts but also no help at all from family and they should respect someone that has better finances than them because of his pure hard work.
That's when I realised that people shouldn't affect me at all. Every month I have extra money to save and invest and I have no debts at all...Not many North Americans can say the same!!

"North Americans" you said. You will be fine if natural selection happened.

blue collar doesn't always mean low paying...
plenty of blue collar work earn more than white collar jobs... professional white collar jobs are the ones that tend to get high in the salary once they've enough experience, but blue collar jobs, especially in mining, constructions etc earn a lot more than the average white collar.

when it's important like truck driving
The most underrated, underappreciated job out there.

Blue collar here also in West Australia.Have been in mining , resources, oil and gas and now construction for process plants for over 20 years. Great blokes you meet , the odd woman here and there who you can tolerate.Never any women on the tools doing the hard yards in the weather. Its actually great to be able to have conversations with other blokes about anything and everything.
[–]chasingsnow 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
funny thing is the tho lifestyle will be the fall of civilization as it deteriorates family values and completely trust among the sexes. society will collapse and all those low paying jobs won't be done anymore and they'll realize how their entire existence was made ont the sweat of the backs of hard working men. by then it'll be too late.
oh well, back to tribe warfare and rape and pillaging. sure they'll like it when and opposing faction needs food and then takes turns raping her before murdering her to eat her body. but yeah, fuck men and what we provide now! we deserve the scraps. how fast women forget humans have lived 95%+ of our existence with men NEEDing to be there to protect women and kids from violence and rape and other shit. oh well, fuck those thots.

The funny thing is, a lot of those “horrible jobs” are unionized with higher wages. If women wanted to close the wage gap, they’d try to get those jobs and then they’d work the same amount of hours as the men.

My aunt has a physics degree and works at a nasdaq top 500 company. She routinely tells me how if anything being a female has given her an advantage between things like having the bosses looking out for her, and everyone being willing to jump at the chance to help her, even if they already have their own work.
People let her have priority access to the equipment and robots to get her lab work done, and they have been far more understanding of time off she takes. Not saying this happens for everyone, but you can game the system.

Here is the thing: programming may happen in climate controled offices it is in fact part of the shitty jobs. Unless you're crazy and love spending hours trying to reproduce a bug, find what the fuck caused it, hope enough documentation can get you there then get some endorphine high for 10s until you open the next ticket. You're not doing maintenance programming but playing with green-field projects? Enjoy architecturing something to follow some specs for a week then put everything in the trash once some VP has the idea for "better" specs. And that's nothing compared to the people who fuck-up and decide to go in the video-game business, now you're adding unpaid hours and 80h+ weeks on top of the shit pile. And the management-method-du-jour, the good programmer promoted to shit managers, the totally new technology you have to get on top (but it's just old shit with new name) for your resume.

I've been programming professionally, on and off, for 30 years. Of course I've dealt with unrealistic expectations.
All jobs come with unrealistic expectations. Programming is no worse than any other.

Look at Mr. Spoiled here, someone who actually gets a test environment and not just told to be careful. :-)

It's fun when working on your own project where you're free to play with things. But usually you don't get to work on your own projects at work. At least not while you're just "one of the programmers".

Thank you. Came here to say the same thing. Programming may be a white-collar job, but that doesn’t make it easy.

While I've never worked in a mine or collected garbage, I have driven a truck and worked construction. Those jobs can be fun. Women can't do them of course, too difficult, but they are fun jobs.
[–]misandrists_hate_him3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
We must have completely different ideas of what "fun" is!
I've done manual labor work before, nothing about it was in the least bit fun. I'm glad I was able to make a career of being inside all year round for one thing.

Depends on the gigs. No, roofing in Colorado in August is not among my favorite memories, nor is shoveling mud out of a box underneath the Harlem river for weeks on end.
Still, considering these days I just hold down an office chair and shitpost on reddit, I wouldn't mind doing some real work for a change. But I guess that grass is always dinner.
[–]FreeOfK 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
She's partly right. Women shouldn't be doing those jobs. They should be at home cooking, cleaning, and sucking my dick after I get home from making money in my programming job to feed her ass.
[–]I-am-the-lul3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Women these days don't deserve the luxury of being stay-at-home wives and it is a luxury, cleaning a house takes maybe an hour or so and finding a young woman who can actually cook(popping a TV dinner into the microwave doesn't count) in this day and age is impossible.
[–]FreeOfK 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They had it pretty good back in the day. They fucked it all up though.

Why, you stuck-up entitled cu...
Actually, you know what, Jessie? You're right, you deserve better. Go work somewhere else, in some cozy office filled with similar stuck-up bitches. I actually rather like my blue collar, all-male work environment, where we all can swear or joke freely, and, most importantly, where everybody does his job without trying to manipulate somebody else into doing it because "you should always help a woman, tee hee".
[–]hodltaco3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My my Jessie you are a cunt aren’t you? I imagine by the time I’ve finished typing this that you have acquired yet another cat. Hope you rot in poverty.

[–]ThickFishingLine 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup we do all the actual work, while you can't even program so you get to shuffle papers all day and get paid more.
Sounds about right...

Jessie is a honest woman. And that makes her better than a lot of women. What a world we live in where, an honest cunt is better than most cunts because most cunts are full of shit.
