I think the criticism for it is unfounded; clearly Diane is the most left-wing, cringe liberal on the show, but that's just her character. And just because the writers represent that, does not mean they seek to promote that ideology. If anything it's just accurate because a lot of people (unfortunately) hold authoritarian extreme left-wing views.

Presenting a liberal in contrast to Bojack's nihilism or Princess Carolyn's ruthless capitalism is much more effective than all the characters having the same ideology.
